The U.S financial markets are the largest in the world and provide many great investment and trading opportunities. However, sometimes the options for investing in or trading U.S securities are fairly limited for those not living in the US.
That is why it sometimes could be a wise decision to open a trading account with an American broker, to get access to the ever-liquid financial markets.
However, all US brokers don’t accept international clients. And those who do, naturally demand you to do some extra paperwork. However, don’t worry. There is not much that needs to be done, and you should be able to open an account quickly and painlessly!
Here we have listed some of the US brokers that accept international clients.
We have left out CFD brokers for one simple reason. While many of the CFD companies advertise their zero-commission pricing, what they don’t mention is the massive spread that you will have to pay to enter a position.
A spread is the difference between the buy and sell price. Basically, this means that while CFD brokers don’t charge you commissions, but instead make you pay a little more for the contract than it’s actually worth.
That’s how they make money, and often times A LOT of money. This is one of the reasons that we don’t engage with CFD in our own trading.
Here are our top picks when it comes to brokers for foreigners and non-us citizens:
